1895 Tarlton House
Where Victorian elegance meets Southern hospitality!

The Cottage Garden

On the west end of the Tarlton House, a soothing aquamarine color, "malachite," hugs the walls. Malachite is called the guardian stone of travelers. Adorned with quality antique quilts, these walls make your room feel comfortable and classy.

Relax in your room at the inn, write a note at the desk, or peruse the Victorian magazine. Time ambles in slow motion here. This room just feels really good!

The armoire on the east wall is a lovely old work of art, a vintage piece from previous owners.

Malachite is the color idea in the Cottage Garden. It is copper carbonate hydroxide and often found in stalagmites. Malachite was used as a mineral pigment in green paints from antiquity, and today is a popular semi-precious stone. It is named for the Greek word "mallow," a green herb. Its banded light and dark green designs are one-of-a-kind. Tumbled stones of malachite are sold in rock shops around the world. Carvings and figurines of malachite are almost as common. The finest specimens are used in jewelry, often in silver settings.
