Where Victorian elegance meets Southern hospitality!

The Lotus Blossom Bedroom

To the East, the Orient beckons adventurers, those travelers desiring an elegant stay in the red dawn of the Rising Sun. Asian-themed, the Lotus Blossom evokes a classic sense of timeless traditions, preserved in style by the 1895 Tarlton House.

At the top of the stairs to the third floor, the door opens to a land far away in the Pacific Rim. Bamboo seating is a traditional high-back chair, roomy and comfortable, coordinated with a matching settee. On the wall is a map of Japan, published in 1895.

Additionally, a sketch by the artist, Matsutani, of the Meiji Period (1868-1912), is of Kahoshima Harbor . It is an authentic and rare antique Japanese print, published by Toyodo Publishing on November 29, 1894.

The Lotus Blossom has one double bed and one twin bed. The room is ideal for single guests, or a couple with a child sharing the room, with one's own bed. Come and be enchanted by the Eastern decor of the Lotus Blossom.

Looking out the south windows is an expansive view of two of Hillsboro 's leading churches, the spire of
First Baptist Church on the right, and the tower of
First United Methodist Church
on the left, which are pictured below.

The in-room efficiency bath has all the features you need. The sink is in an antique bureau cabinet. The clawfoot tub is very long, so you can soak, soak, soak. Or use the shower if you like.
